Two Shots of Cold Air

There are going to be two shots of cold air. The second will be colder than the first. The first round of cold air will be arriving this weekend as temperatures fall into the teens for highs. These type of temperatures are going to stick around until Wednesday (1/31/07). The map below for Tuesday (1/30/07) shows the cold air across the Midwest extending into the southeast part of the U.S. with colder air in Canada waiting to come south.

The below map is for Saturday (2/3/07). Notice how the cold air extends down to the Gulf of Mexico with much colder air around the Midwest.

So after Tuesday's temperatures in the 30s temperatures will remain below average for about two weeks and in some cases way below average.
