Another Winter Storm

The big question for the past few days was what is going to be the path of the storm? The low this morning was located in central Kansas (map to the right). Now that the low has crossed the Rockies all indications show it moving northeast across eastern Iowa toward Wisconsin. Similar path to the storm last weekend. The leading edge of precipitation with this storm will be freezing rain and sleet. Tonight the low will be moving over Iowa (again similar to last weekend). During the morning tomorrow, temperatures are expected to warm into the mid 30s north and low 40s south. Isolated thunderstorms are possible in the south. There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms as far north as the Iowa/Missouri state line.

As the low moves northeast the wind will shift around to the northwest wrapping around colder air changing the precipitation over to snow. South and east of Waterloo the snow amount will be light. North and west, some places may see 6" of snowfall by Thursday night. Check out the map to the right.
The weekend storm had more moisture with it than this one does. Below is a map showing the amount of moisture when melted down is expected from this morning through Friday morning.
