Clouds moved into the area last night as the cold front slowly drifted southward. The cold front this morning is located from Lake Michigan to the Kansas/Nebraska border. The front will become stationary later today. A trof of low pressure in the upper 
levels of the atmosphere will aid in the showers and thunderstorms around Iowa and southwest this afternoon and tonight. The position of the upper level trof matches well with the precipitation for the same time (this evening).The QPF output for the amount of rain suggests under one inch through the state of 
Iowa from this morning until Wednesday morning. The thunderstorm chance is low and there is no risk of any of the storms becoming severe
today or tonight. The map to the right shows the risk for severe weather through tonight from the Storm Prediction Center (SPC).
I wanted to take a look ahead to see how our temperatures will trend beyond 7 days. Well, maybe I shouldn't have looked. The Climate
Prediction Center (CPC) outlook is for slightly cooler than average temperatures for the Midwest into the Northeast. Average high for this time of year is in the low 50s.
