Morning Surface Map at 8:30 AM...The stationary from is still to our southwest. The black arrows (the ones I drew) indicate the direction of the wind. Notice it changes direction depending on which side of the fronts you are on. Here in Iowa the wind remains from the east.
SPC forecast for today/tonight issued at 7:49 AM...A slight risk of severe weather in southwestern Iowa toward Texas. Generally south and west of the stationary front and ahead of the approaching cold front.
NAM 36 hr forecast for 7 AM Friday...I have circled the area of rain expected tonight into tomorrow morning. As the rain continues to move northeast, Friday afternoon will only a slight chance of a showers.
HPC QPF 7 AM Thu to 7 AM Fri...By Friday morning rainfall amounts are expected to be light in eastern Iowa. Keep in mind it will still be raining at the end of this time period. So rain amounts will be higher as the rain falls during the rest of the morning before it becomes isolated in nature during the afternoon.
NAM 60 hr forecast for 7 AM Saturday... After a break in the rain there is another round of rain expected for Friday night through the day on Saturday. This is a slow moving area of low pressure with rain and thunderstorms so it looks like it will be a soggy weekend. Scattered showers could last through Sunday.
