Is this our last snow? Many of you are probably yelling right now "NO MORE WINTER!!!". Lets start out where the storm is this morning.
9z (4am) Surface Map
The wind is from the southeast ahead of the low located along the front range of the Rockies. This wind direction will help bring moisture north into the storm system.

00z GFS 24 hr SFC Forecast
The storm will be a broad area of low pressure as it begins it movement east across the Plains.




12z GFS 36 hr SFC Forecast
By Wednesday morning the storm system has more of a center and will be located across southeast Iowa. By this time, the precipitation will be in the form of snow. Snow is expected to continue through the day before it tapers off Wednesday evening.
Surface Low Track
After the low moves into southeast Iowa it will begin to turn northeast through Lake Michigan. This will be part of why the snow will continue through Wednesday. If the storm were to continue straight (instead of make that turn) the snow would end sooner.

The amount of precipitation will be split up in forms of rain and snow during the next two days.



HPC Snow Accumulation Probability (Day 1)
There are four maps here breaking down the amount of snow possible and the probability of that amount of snow. The top left hand map is the probability of snow greater than four inches. The top right hand map is the probability of snow greater than eight inches. The bottom right hand map is the probability of snow greater than 12 inches. The bottom right hand map is the probability of .25" of ice accumulation or more.
