The weather map shows an area of high pressure over Iowa. The sky is clear over Iowa but clouds are not far away to our southwest. The clouds are associated with a developing area of low pressure in west Texas.
Forecast Surface Low Positions
The low will travel east across southern Arkansas into Alabama by Saturday Evening.



7 PM NAM Forecast
There is going to be a wide spread area of precipitation today with heavy snow on the northwest side and severe weather to the southeast. The area I circled in pink should get blizzard or near blizzard conditions during the afternoon.
SPC Severe Weather Forecast
The southeast side of the low will produced severe weather from Texas east to Mississippi.


HPC Precipitation Amount 7AM Fri- 7 AM Sat
Heavy amounts of precip (rain and snow) will fall south of Iowa through tomorrow morning.
