4 AM Surface MapA large are of high pressure will give us another beautiful day, today. A weak cold front in the Dakotas this morning will swing through the Midwest tomorrow bringing with it some clouds and a slight chance of a spotty shower. Behind the front temperatures will cool down into the mid 50s for highs before heading back to near 70 for the weekend. 
7 PM Monday 500mb Forecast
A large area of low pressure in the northeast associated with a Nor'Easter and an area of low pressure in the southwest US. Between those there is a ridge of high pressure and that is right over us. Ridge of high pressure in the upper levels is usually a sign of nice weather.
8-14 Day Temp/Precip Forecast
Since it has been so nice this weekend and this week I wanted to take a moment to peak beyond the 7 day forecast. The above maps are 8-14 day forecasts from the Climate Prediction Center (CPC). It looks like above average temperatures and above average precip expected for the eastern half of the nation with Iowa on the fringe.
