A weak cold front moved across Iowa yesterday with different air mass behind it. So this means today and tomorrow will be cooler with temperatures in the 50s to near 60 degrees. Once the wind comes from a more southerly direction on Friday the temperatures will warm back into the 60s and low 70s.

The surface forecast for 7 PM Thursday shows showers in Nebraska and South Dakota. These showers will be moving east. The showers will be dissipating over Iowa Thursday night as it will be running into a ridge of high pressure. I drew a blue zig-zag line where the ridge will be.

The next chance of precipitation will be on Sunday. An area of low pressure will move across the US/Canadian border and swing a cold front through the Midwest during the day on Sunday. There will be a weak area of high pressure over Colorado by Sunday morning. The high as well as the ridge of high pressure (500 mb forecast) will dry us out on Monday. Another area of rain with a trof of low pressure (500 mb forecast) along the west coast will give us another chance of thunderstorms Tuesday.
