Temperatures are mild for a late January morning. The sun is shining and even with snow on the ground the temperatures at 9:00 AM (see map to the right) are in the low 30s. The warmer temperatures will not last very long as a cold approaches from the northwest during the afternoon hours.
Below are two forecast maps showing the expected postion of the cold front at 3 PM.
This map shows how the wind direction will shift from the southwest to the northwest with the speed of the wind increasing.
The map below also shows the position of the front but on a map showing surface pressure. Notice the low pressure center located in northern Wisconsin.
The 7 day forecast doesn't have a lot of sunshine or warmth after today.

Wow. Those are some cold temps. And looking at your updated forcast, Saturday and Sunday will be good days to stay indoors. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get that snow.
