The Iowa Department of Transportation has published on its Web site a slideshow of photos taken during the recent blizzard. The photos illustrate the tremendous challenges road crews, National Guard troops, Iowa State Patrol and Motor Vehicle Enforcement officers, motorists, and many others faced during this major storm, including the need to escort stranded motorists to safety, encountering and maneuvering around abandoned cars and large trucks, whiteout conditions, and enormous drifts that required the use of specialized equipment.
