Tornado Drill

The highlight of Severe Weather Awareness Week is the annual tornado drill scheduled for Wednesday, April 4th at 10:10 A.M.

Here is the test tornado drill schedule:
9:00 A.M. National Weather Service, Des Moines, Emergency Manager conference call notification.
9:30 A.M. National Weather Service, Des Moines, Emergency Manager conference call.
10:10 A.M. National Weather Service offices in Omaha and Sioux Falls issue TEST tornado warnings for their Iowa counties.
10:15 A.M. National Weather Service offices in Des Moines and Quad Cities issue TEST tornado warnings for their Iowa counties.
10:20 A.M. National Weather Service office in La Crosse issues a TEST tornado warning for its Iowa counties.
10:30 A.M-10:45 A.M. Each National Weather Service office will cancel their TEST tornado warning by issuing a Severe Weather Statement.

Schools, businesses and individuals are strongly encouraged to participate in the drill and exercising tornado action plans. Media is also encouraged to air the drill on their stations.
