Weekend Storm Update

The latest GFS model run doesn't have much change in position of the low compared to yesterday for the time frames of Saturday morning (top map) and Saturday evening (bottom map). The only difference is going to be when the rain begins in eastern Iowa. Right now it appears it will hold off until Friday evening and let us have one more dry day. According to the GFS output the low pressure center will move from the OK/TX panhandles (Sat AM) to southeast KS (Sat PM) to Davenport (Sun AM) to Chicago (Sun PM). Rain still looks like a good bet for Saturday and rain changing to snow on Sunday. The the QPF product for the next five days (Wed AM to Mon AM), from the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center (HPC), shows the amount of precip expected. Notice there is the potential for one inch or more of precip. Part of this does include snow if you melt it down. Again as the storm gets closer the details of what the storm will bring us will be a little more clear.
